On the afternoon of December, 17, the delegation sent by China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC) paid a visit to the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology of Nigeria and held a meeting. The Minister, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu attended the meeting. In the beginning, on behalf of the Ministry, Mr. Danazumi M. Ibrahim, General Director of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the delegation and the purposes of this visit to the attendees. Mr. Li Guofeng, Director General of CASTTC introduced the cooperation with Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC) since 2018 and hoped this visit could facilitate the implementation of what the two sides have previously achieved and push the bilateral cooperation to a new high. The Minister highly agreed to the proposal that CASTTC establish a working base of China-Arab States Technology Transfer Collaborative Networking in Nigeria depending on RMRDC and will support the bilateral cooperation in areas of technology transfer, science and technology innovation, joint laboratories, science and technology parks, talent training and date sharing.
In October, 2018, two staff of RMRDC, a parastatal institution of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology of Nigeria, participated in the “International Training Workshop for Countries along the ‘Belt and Road’ on Science Park and Incubator Construction & Operation” held by CASTTC, where the initial cooperative intention was achieved. Afterwards, two delegations of RMRDC visited CASTTC respectively in June and September, 2019, and attended the Fourth China-Arab States Expo, during which the bilateral sides promoted science and technology cooperation by holding in-depth talks upon co-constructing science and technology parks, joint laboratories, and carrying out talent training, which has laid a sound foundation for future cooperation.
