The Fourth China-Arab Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference, jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, the Secretariat of the Arab League and the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, will be held in Yinchuan, Ningxia, from August 19 to 22, during which memorandums of understanding will be signed to jointly build the China-Qatar Technology Transfer Center and the Nigerian working base of the China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC), which will increase the number of foreign partner institutions of the CASTTC to 10. The CASTTC was officially launched in 2015, which is a comprehensive service platform specializing in China-Arab cooperation in science and technology and technology transfer as approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
According to Li Guofeng, Director of the CASTTC, relying on the relevant institutions of the Arab side, the center has established eight bilateral technology transfer centers in LAS, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, UAE (Dubai), Egypt, Sudan and Morocco, and will add 2 bilateral technology transfer centers in Qatar and Nigeria during the upcoming 4th China-Arab Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference.
In the past five years, the CASTTC , by adhering to the principle of “extensive consultation, joint construction and shared benefits”, in joint hands with the political, academic, business and scientific domains of both sides, has built a collaborative network of China-Arab technology transfer with the concept of “Internet+”, which has gathered and cultivated a group of professional technology transfer institutions and talents, and established an efficient and practical technology transfer information service platform.
It is reported that the CASTTC has deeply tapped into the development needs of both sides, organized technology transfer matchmaking meetings, China-Arab Science and Technology Activity Week, professional training and other activities, and provided customized supports for China-Arab enterprises and related institutions. At the same time, the center has cultivated a number of science and technology cooperation platforms in the fields of date palm, agricultural Internet of Things, green and intelligent water-saving equipment, satellite data service, high-yield cultivation of potatoes, food development, etc., so that relevant advanced technologies and equipment have been successfully transferred.
