To deepen science, technology and innovation (STI) cooperation among BRICS countries, advance cross-border commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and foster synergy in innovation ecosystems, China plans to launch and implement the China–BRICS Young Science and Innovation Ambassadors Exchange Program (hereinafter referred to as the “Young Ambassadors Program”). We sincerely invite outstanding young STI talents from all BRICS countries to gather in Xiamen and build a new future for BRICS STI cooperation.

I. Program Purpose

Under the framework of the Innovation BRICS Network (iBRICS) of the BRICS Working Group on Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Partnership (STIEP WG), the Young Ambassadors Program aims to establish a platform for young innovators to exchange ideas, build consensus on innovation, improve cross-border incubation coordination mechanisms, and comprehensively enhance the overall effectiveness of BRICS sci-tech innovation.

III. Program Objectives

1.Cultivate a cohort of young BRICS professionals in STI incubation, and improve their capacities in technology commercialization and international cooperation.

2.Establish a sustained network for young innovators to facilitate technology transfer, joint incubation, and project landing.

3.Explore new mechanism for cross-border incubation cooperation among BRICS countries, and develop replicable and scalable practices.

4.Provide policy insights and talent support for BRICS STI cooperation.

IV. Target Participants

Exceptional young talents from BRICS countries under the age of 40 who meet the following criteria:

1.Leaders and key staff of STI incubation institutions, including science and technology incubators, university science parks, accelerators, technology transfer centers and makerspaces.

2.Researchers engaged in cross-border sci-tech cooperation studies at universities and research institutes.

3.Young professionals working on sci-tech cooperation in government science and technology departments or international science and technology organizations.

Participants are nominated by their host institutions and confirmed by the Programme organizers. Eligible nominating institutions include international organizations, government bodies, universities, research institutes, incubators, science parks, and other sci-tech innovation–related entities. Priority will be given to candidates who:

a.Have prior experience working in government science and technology departments or international sci-tech organizations, or are recommended by such bodies.

b.Have proven experience in sci-tech incubation, venture capital, technology brokering, or cross-border sci-tech cooperation.

c.Work for an organization that is influential in the local innovation ecosystem and has a track record of successful cross-border incubation.

V. Arrangement

Duration: October 2026 (two weeks)

Location: Xiamen, China

Organizer: China–BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park for the New Era

Core Activities:

The program combines lectures, on-site workshops, case studies, project pitch sessions, and resource matching to create a BRICS youth innovation network for sustained connectivity. Activities include:

1.Sharing China’s and Xiamen’s sci-tech policies, technology transfer mechanism, and operational experience of China–BRICS SIIP.

2.Exchanging information on innovation support policies across BRICS countries and exploring pathways for cross-border cooperation.

3.Site visits and hands-on training at leading incubators and science parks.

4.Project pitches for investment institutions and matchmaking with cooperation resources.

All ed participants will receive full in-kind support during their stay in Xiamen:

1.Accommodation, meals, local transport, and training sessions fully covered.

2.Assistance with visa application procedures and professional interpretation services.
