Recently, a meeting for international cooperation in science and technology was held by the China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC) and the Office of West Asian and North African Affairs of Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO). The two sides have an in-depth exchange of views on the international technological training, technology transfer and collaborative network building, and have reached consensus on practical cooperation in three aspects.

  First, to jointly conduct international technological training to enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges with Belt and Road partner countries. The two sides will deeply integrate the platform of CASTTC with GEIDCO’s professional strength in new energy by inviting young Arab scientists to China and Chinese experts to Arab countries, specifying the exact training needs of Arab countries in new energy, and jointly applying for training programs hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. In that case, the two sides aim to hold international technological training online and offline in a wider range and at a higher level.

  Second, to actively cultivate innovation platforms to promote technology transfer and transformation in Belt and Road partner countries. Focusing on major cooperation fields of different countries, the two sides will sort out high-quality China-Arab scientific and technological cooperation achievements and member organizations, give full play to the advantageous resources of CASTTC and GEIDCO, cultivate joint laboratories, and jointly promote the transfer and transformation of a batch of advanced and applicable technologies in Arab countries in terms of their actual demands.

  Third, to establish the conference interaction mechanism to share resources in science, technology and innovation with Belt and Road partner countries. The two sides will establish a multi-level conference interaction mechanism of “1+2+N”. “1” is to regularly hold bilateral work promotion meetings to establish a stable and sustainable communication and liaison mechanism. “2” refers to China-Arab States Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference and the Global Energy Interconnection Conference. The two sides will jointly host sub-events and invite major international participants to integrate scientific and technological innovation resources and promote exchanges and cooperation. “N” refers to all the international conferences related to new energy and scientific and technological cooperation held in Arab countries. The two sides will carry out promotion activities in joint hands, encourage and organize domestic innovation entities to actively participate in relevant events, to facilitate more tangible results for the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation.
