In active response to the “AI+” International Cooperation Initiative and to promote science and technology cooperation and talent exchange in artificial intelligence between China and Arab states, China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC) and Wuxi Research Institute of Applied Technologies, Tsinghua University jointly organized the International Online Training Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Technology from December 2 to 4. Professor Abdelmalik Bachir, Director of the Higher National School of Artificial Intelligence of Algeria, attended and gave an address at the opening ceremony online.

Tailored to the specific technology demands of Arab states in the field of AI, the training workshop invited three experts from Tsinghua University to deliver systematic lectures on cutting-edge topics, including the reconstruction of urban civilization through AI, AI applications in healthcare, and the development of AI infrastructure. Professor Bachir noted that the training provided a crucial platform for talent development and technological advancement in AI for Arab states. The workshop attracted over 100 active participants from countries including Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, Yemen, and Iraq, involving staff from international organizations such as the Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, as well as experts and students from universities and research institutes. During the lectures, the participants enthusiastically interacted with the experts and spoke highly of the forward-looking and instructive knowledge and insights.

In recent years, CASTTC has been actively promoting pragmatic cooperation in artificial intelligence between China and Arab states. In February of this year, CASTTC facilitated the establishment of the joint laboratory for AI between Algeria’s National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Tsinghua University. In August, under the framework of the Sixth China-Arab States Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference, CASTTC hosted the Artificial Intelligence Technology Matchmaking Meeting, releasing eight industry application technologies covering energy, healthcare, transportation and other areas prioritized by Arab states. Moving forward, CASTTC will scale up cooperation in technology transfer and joint research, with an aim of contributing to an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial global landscape for AI development.
